BPB is pleased to announce the appointment of Sir Ian Gibson as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 September 2001.

Sir Ian, aged 54, is Chairman of The Department of Trade and Industry's Automotive Innovation and Growth Team, a member of the Court of the Bank of England, and an adviser to ANA (All Nippon Airways) and JATCO (Japanese-American Transmissions Company).

Until April 2001 he was Chief Executive of Nissan Europe NV and Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Company (Japan) Ltd, having joined Nissan UK in 1984 as Manufacturing Director. Between 1968 and 1984 he was with the Ford Motor Company. He was Deputy Chairman of Asda Group plc from 1993 to 1999.
